Until now, capturing a walk meant a laptop. That worked at a desk and badly everywhere else, which is a problem for a tool whose entire premise is going to where the work happens.
Gemba Walk AI is now a native app on iOS and Android.
What you can do on the floor
- Speak instead of type. Describe what you are looking at and the app transcribes it, then fills in the structured fields — title, waste category, impact, frequency — from what you said. You correct rather than compose.
- Photograph the thing itself. A picture of the blocked aisle settles more discussion than a paragraph about it.
- Work without signal. Plants have dead zones. Issues queue locally and sync when you are back in coverage, so the walk is never interrupted by a network problem.
- Close the loop from the aisle. Assign an owner and a due date while you are standing in front of the problem, not an hour later from memory.
Why this matters more than convenience
The delay between seeing something and recording it is where walks quietly fail. Anything captured later is captured from memory, and memory drops the specifics — which machine, which shift, how often — that make an issue actionable rather than a note.
Shortening that gap to seconds is the whole point. It is the same argument as gemba latency: the interval between observation and action decides how fast the floor can change.

Report generation and dashboards remain on the web, where the screen size genuinely helps. The phone is for capture and follow-up: the two things that happen while you are standing on the floor.
